Here is a quick overview of our newly organized association.

We start in August and rodeo to May.
Our first rodeo season was 2004-2005. We had 12 rodeos. We are planning for a big rodeo season this year (2007-08). Presently
for the fall 2007 season we have 4 rodeo weekends scheduled. Our Spring
schedule is filling up. Come join the fun! It's never to late to join.
What are the rodeo events in the Wrangler Division?
Girl events: Barrel Racing, Pole Bending, Goat Tying, Breakaway Calf Roping, Team Roping, (Queen contest-state level only), and Ribbon Roping (must be a girl and boy team for ribbon roping).
Boys events: Jr. Bull/Steer Riding, Tie-down Calf Roping, Breakaway Calf Roping, Chute Dogging, Goat Tying, Team Roping, and Ribbon Roping (must be a boy and girl team for ribbon roping).
What is the name of this newly organized association and why is it called the
Wrangler Division?
The name is - The National High School Rodeo Association (NHSRA) -
Illinois Wrangler Division - (Association Constitution and By Laws - 501 (c) (3))
- Each State or Canada Province that is a member of the NHSRA will be able to hold a membership in the Wrangler Division on a National level. The Illinois High School Rodeo Association has allowed this new division to exist within the state of Illinois.
- Our organization will be known as the National High School Rodeo Association Illinois Wrangler Division.
- Why is it called Wrangler Division? - Wrangler is the title sponsor. They have put money and faith in the NHSRA to start this program at the national level.
What is this newly National organization all about?
- The NHSRA is working with each state/province to develop a pool of future NHSRA members while providing the contestants in the sixth, seventh, and eighth grades a chance to compete at a national level in rodeo.
- Contestants in each state will gather points throughout the rodeo season (August - May) and will vie for the top positions in each event and a chance to represent the state of Illinois in the NHSRA Wrangler Division Junior High Finals Rodeo.
THE FACTS:
- Competition will be open to boys and girls in the sixth, seventh, and eighth grades.
- Each state or province will hold their qualifying rodeos and the top contestants in each event will be eligible for the Wrangler Division Nation Junior High Finals Rodeo. (Tentatively the 2008 National Finals will be held in Gallup, New Mexico June 29-July 6, 2008).
- NHSRA rules and by-laws will apply. All Wrangler members will receive a NHSRA Wrangler rulebook.
- A State Finals is held and the top contestants per event advance to the National Finals.
Rodeo - requirements, fees, etc.
- Mail-in entries will be taken.
1. Medical release is required with parent's/guardian's signatures.
2. Permission to enter each event must be given by initials of the
parent's/guardian's beside each event entered.
- SCHOOL GRADES WILL BE CHECKED. Number one is school! You MUST maintain passing grades to be able to compete.
- Entry fees - Entries per rodeo will be $15. per event per rodeo.
- Contestant membership fees: $100 per rodeo season per contestant.
- Each contestant will be joining the two (2) association for a total of $100.
1. The National High School Rodeo Association - Wrangler Division - $55.
2. The NHSRA Illinois Wrangler Division - $45
-The National dues are used for membership fees, TIMES magazine
subscription (mandatory per contestant), Specialty Program Insurance
per each member of $25. per rodeo season.)
-The State dues are used for producing rodeos, (non-contestant) rodeo
insurance, awards, mailings, membership in the NHSRA Wrangler
Division national state dues, etc.
- Ground fees - The sponsor of each rodeo is given the opportunity to set fees. One ground fee is usually added to entries to cover the contestant for the weekend. This usually helps with the office fees, stock fees, and the overall expense of the rodeo.
- Student Fees - This fee is added to each contestant entering the rodeo (one - $2 per rodeo fee). this is a separate fund kept in a special account and will be used for student events during the rodeo season. It could be used to help the students purchase items like their national qualifier shirts, state finals awards, team jackets, sponsor a student dance or rodeo get-together, end-of-the-year party, etc.
- Camping fees and Weekend parent passes are controlled by the rodeo sponsor.
I am a member of the Junior Rodeo Association. I can't be a member of the Wrangler Division, too?
- Yes, you can! We want you to do both. The Wrangler Division will give all sixth, seventh, and eighth graders the chance to compete in rodeos year round.
- The majority of our rodeos are held from August to May.
- We set up our rodeo dates as they are offered to us as an organization from anyone wishing to sponsor/produce a rodeo. We try to travel to different parts of Illinois and are hoping to be invited to rodeo with other states.
Still wondering why you should join this association? Well,
- You will be given the opportunity to qualify for the NATIONAL HIGH SCHOOL RODEO ASSOCIATION JUNIOR HIGH NATIONAL FINALS. The finals will be held in July and will be in Gallup, New Mexico in 2007.
- You will be given the opportunity to compete with sixth, seventh, and eighth graders throughout the state of Illinois.
- You will get to rodeo more year round - Your Wrangler Division officers work hard to set up as many rodeos as they can.
- Award event buckles have been awarded at each rodeo along with boys and girls all-around buckles.
- This association was developed to prepare contestants for the future and a future in high school rodeo.
- ALL we wish to do is to prepare kids for the next step up in rodeo, keep them interested in rodeo, promote the family event of rodeo, and give them the opportunity to compete in rodeo at a NATIONAL LEVEL.
